About me
Who am I, and why do I love college football enough to write about it?

Meet Ron
Hi! My name is Ron Slawek, and I am an avid CFB fan. Ever since I can remember I have loved this sport more than any other. I grew up in the Chicago suburbs as a Chicago Bears fan (and still am), but neither of my parents went to a four year college therefore we did not have a college team.
I grew up going to University of Wisconsin-Madison games with one of my best friends and his family, I credit them for introducing me to the sport, and I loved going to Madison, but I still wasn’t hooked.
Fast forward to the next year when I was looking at where I wanted to go to college, I was set on the University of Arizona. I was enrolled, and my mom and I took a trip out there in mid November, and we went to a game. November 11th, 2017. Oregon State was playing Arizona and the game was frankly boring. Arizona had a good team behind Khalil Tate, but the energy was not there. That very next week is when I had my “ah hah” moment.
I still remember that game on November 18th, 2017 #24 Michigan coming into Camp Randall to faceoff against #5 Wisconsin. That same family that I grew up going to games with brought me up. They were the type of fans where they have been tailgating with the same people since before my friend and I were born. Themes for every game, food, drinks, heaters, TV’s. A perfect setup. College gameday was also there. Wisconsin won the game 24-10, and the energy was electrifying. I was hooked. That next day when I drove back home to the Chicago suburbs I knew I was not going to go to Arizona.
I ended up choosing the University of Iowa. I wanted a school that fully embodied school spirit, and where the city revolved around the school. Which they absolutely did. That strengthened my love for the sport, and Iowa became mine, and my family’s CFB team.
Post-grad I moved to Austin, TX for work. I ended up attending Texas A&M for my masters, so along with all of my friends in Austin, I cheer for the Aggies as well.
Currently I reside in Chicago, IL. The teams I claim and support in this order are 1. Iowa Hawkeyes 2. Texas A&M Aggies 3. Notre Dame Fighting Irish (I am Irish and Catholic). I love to watch CFB no matter if it is a top 25 matchup, or the two worst teams in the American conference playing on a Tuesday night. If it is on, I watch.
With how passionate I am, and with most of my friends asking me for advice anyways, I wanted to start writing my thoughts. If this goes somewhere, awesome, if not, I am doing this for my own enjoyment. Godspeed.
